Obituary of Leonard F. Ash Sr.
Leonard F. Ash, Sr., 66, of Taylor, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at the Regional Hospital, Scranton.
He was married to the former Ann G. Marsico. The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on March 27.
Born in Avoca, he was the son of the late Lester and Myrtle Griffin Ash. He was a 1965 graduate of Northeast High School, Duryea. Prior to his retirement, he was a police officerfor 39 years, and proudly served as Duryea's Chief of Police for 25 years. He formed the Upper Luzerne and Lower Lackawanna County Drug Task Force. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Leonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed.
Surviving are a son , Leonard F. Ash, Jr. and wife Kim, Scranton; grandson, Leonard Ash III; a granddaughter, Marissa Ash;, a great-grandson, Logan Meranti; a brother, William Ash, Avoca; a sister, Nancy Pollack, Ransom; nieces, and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Louis V. Ciuccio funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a noon Mass in the Prince of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church, West Grace Street, Old Forge. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
