Obituary of Ione Pagnotti

Ione Pagnotti, 95, of Old Forge died Friday at home. She was the widow of the late Patrick C. Pagnotti who died June 14th.

            Born in Naples, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria Apicella Avallone. She was employed as a transcriptionist at a post office in Naples, Italy. Ione was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea.

            She had many passions and hobbies. They included a love of the opera, Padre Pio, watching Italian soccer, the Pioneer Women, cooking, and especially her dog Catrina. She enjoyed being at her son’s club Sea Seas where she got the nick name “Mama Sea Seas”. Ione would jokingly say if you eat beans you will live to 100.

            Surviving are a son, Vincent and wife Linda, Old Forge, two daughters, Patty Skula and husband William, Old Forge, Marilou Grant and husband Jerry, Duryea, grandchildren; Vincent and wife Loubna, Maxine, Lindsey, Jillian and husband Dan, Alexandra, Larissa, Corey and wife Allison, great-grandchildren; Rocco, Gabrielle, Kaleb, Sophia, nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by sisters Ada, Anna, Maria, Antonietta, and Giuditta.

            The family would like to personally thank Arcadia Hospice and nurse Patti, caregiver and best friend Carol Krenitsky, and also caregiver Tammy Cornell.

            The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord Parish – Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea. Interment Old Forge Cemetery.

            Relatives and friends wishing to attend the funeral mass are asked to go directly to the church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours.

            Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge.
