Obituary of Harry A. Giacomi

     Harry A. Giacomi, 83, of Old Forge, passed away Sunday at Allied Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Annette Marie Marseco Giacomi.

     Born June 23, 1937, in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Chester and Sara Schuck Giacomi.  Harry was a member of the original Williamsport’s Little League team, having played when he was 9 years old. He was a graduate of Williamsport Senior High School. Harry proudly served his country for 37 years.  He retired from the U.S. Army in 1997, having worked as an Army Administrator. He was very proud that he graduated from the U.S. Army Sergeants’ Major Academy. 

     Of all his awards and decorations, he was especially proud of being inducted into the United States Field Artillery Association, and was awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara Medal, the patron saint of all artillery soldiers.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #513, Old Forge, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, William C. Malia Post # 1, Scranton.  He was also a Master Mason with Acadia Lodge #539, Taylor, and a member of Saint Lawrence’s Church – Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.

     Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Annette, and his son, Chet.  His wife and son especially made his life worth living. He was very grateful having had each of them in his life and always thanked God for them. 

     He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Philip and John Giacomi and two sisters, Sarah Fitzgerald and Lillian Skeebey

     Harry will be lovingly remembered for his faithfulness to God, his country, and his family.

     He is survived by a sister, Nancy Giacomi, Williamsport and a daughter in-law, Lynn Van Nort Giacomi, Old Forge, nieces, and nephews.

     His family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Allied Services 3 North, 4 South and Allied Hospice.

     The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Reverend August A. Ricciardi, Pastor, Prince of Peace Parish. Interment Old Forge Cemetery.

     Relatives and friends may pay their respects Wednesday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Harry, may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

     Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, those attending the funeral service are kindly asked to wear protective facial masks and follow social distancing guidelines.  These guidelines don’t apply if you are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
