Thomas (Tom) Baker, 71, of Tunkhannock, died Thursday at Allied Services Hospice. He was married to the former Marsha Boice. They were married 39 loooong years. Tom was a selfless man and would give up anything for his children.
Born on February 12, 1952, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Boyd and Alice Reynolds Baker. Tom was a 1970 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many companies including Aldovin Dairy, Berkley Publishing, American Asphalt, Strumski Well Drilling, and most recently Tunkhannock Borough. For 21 years, he was the co-owner of Marsha’s Sugar Hollow Diner with his wife Marsha. Tom was also an EMT with the Tunkhannock Ambulance Association for over a decade. He was a little league coach and Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a VERY active member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge 1276, where he definitely lived the high life with his many friends throughout the years. Tom enjoyed trips to the Little League World Series. He was an avid Steelers fan. He was also an avid race fan. His favorite driver was Harry Gant; and then against his family’s wishes he became a Jeff Gordan fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Louise Brooks; sister, Anmarie Souza; brother, Bud Baker; and his beagles Doobie and Maggie.
In addition to his wife, Marsha, Tom is survived by his daughter, Sherry Gregory and his favorite son-in-law Dave, Factoryville; his son, Tommy, Tunkhannock; sister, Alice Jackson (Leroy), Tunkhannock; brother, Jimmy Baker, Athens; grandson, Hunter Grow, Nicholson; many nieces and nephews; and two very special little people, Freya Jane and Torvi Two Tones.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a time to be announced.
