Obituary of Gertrude Ferranti
Gertrude Ferranti, 96, of Scranton, died Saturday at the Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of the late Frank “Babe” Ferranti, who died in 2008.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna Agostinelli Costanzi. She attended West Scranton High School and was a beautician employed by the Globe store salon until their closing. She was a devout member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church, Scranton where she attended mass and volunteered regularly. Gertrude was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling to Italy to be with family and vacationing at the Villa Roma Resort in the Catskill Mountains, NY. She was an active member of the Young at Heart Club and especially enjoyed participating in their day trips.
Surviving are a grandson, Aaron Ferranti and great-grandson, Al (Ella); a granddaughter Corissa and husband Patrick Meehan; and great-grandchildren Aengus, Bodhi, Eva Meehan; daughter in-law, Julee Ferranti; and grandchildren Leea and Chase Ferranti, Keanna and Marqus Locatelli. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Todd Ferranti; four sisters Yolanda, Philomena, and Candida Costanzi, and Edith Belardi.
A special thanks to the staff at the Mountain View Care Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Gertrude.
To honor Gertrude, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John Neuman Parrish, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton. Interment Italian American Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Gertrude at the church on Saturday 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
