Obituary of Vito G. Degilio
Vito G. Degilio of Old Forge passed away Saturday surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Alice Frost, who passed away in 2013.
Born June 21, 1929, in Ransom, Vito was the son of the late George and Concetta Marks Degilio. He graduated from Ransom High School. After graduation, Vito served in the United States Army. He then spent almost 55 years as a professional truck driver, which included being part of the Teamsters union for over 30 years before retiring.
Vito’s favorite past-time was his furrbabies, MissyCat and AngelBaby, as well as his passion for gardening.
Vito is survived by his son, Darren V. and wife Jessica, Old Forge, two grandchildren, Karen Ashford and Aiden Pullman, nieces, and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Mark, and 7 brothers and sisters.
To honor Vito, a funeral service will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
Interment at the Old Forge Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
