Obituary of Josephine Matrone

Josephine Matrone, 98, of Old Forge, died Saturday surrounded by her loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Concetta Lanagata Matrone. She attended Old Forge public schools and before retirement, she was employed at Lackawanna Pants, Scranton. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge. 

Josephine was a loving sister and aunt who will be sadly missed. 

Surviving are her sister and caregiver, Norma Serino, Old Forge, with whom she resided; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Tony and George Matrone; four sisters, Mary Matrone, Lucy Balzano, Margaret Bossi and Jennie Miletta.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a noon Mass at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge. Interment Old Forge Cemetery.
