Obituary of Rita M. Basta
Rita Marie Basta, 62, Old Forge, died Thursday at Moses Taylor Hospital after a long and courageous battle against multiple sclerosis.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Rita D. Wastella Basta. She was a 1969 graduate of Cathedral High School and a 1973 graduate of Kutztown University. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Rita was a kind, wonderful and patient person, especially throughout her struggle with multiple sclerosis. Everyone who knew her loved her. She greatly enjoyed music, books and films.
Her brother, Sam, would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Darlene Dunay for all the years of loving care and the entire staff at Riverside Rehabilitation for their continued care and friendship given to his sister.
Surviving are a brother, Sam, Old Forge; an aunt and cousins.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Louis V. Ciuccio Funeral Home, 145 Moosic Road, Old Forge, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at the Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church, Old Forge. Interment Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
